Fifth Annual Cyber-Security Awareness Week
Related Content: [Last year's Cyber Security Awareness Week] [University Information Security Awareness Program] Computer and electronic information security (cyber-security for short) continues to be a challenge not just for the university but world wide. It does not take long watching the news, reading the newspaper or listening to the radio before you are likely to hear about some computer security fraud, weakness, exploit or data breach making the rounds. As part of the University's Information Security Awareness Program, the Information Security Office, in conjunction with the the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost; the Office of the Executive Vice President for Health Affairs, the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research, the Office of the Vice PResident for Information Technology as well as faculty, staff and student volunteers is hosting the fifth annual Cyber Security Awareness Week.
The goal is simple, according to Bruce Edwards, the University's Chief Information Security Officer (CISO): "We want to increase the cyber security awareness of all university faculty, staff and students in a fun way. Instead of always reading about the scary incidents occurring through-out the world or sitting through more on-line training, we hope the events we have scheduled will allow people to come together and learn from the volunteers who are generously sharing their expertise at these events, have fun, meet people, get a free bite to eat and maybe even win a door prize."
